Verdi, Vivaldi and La Dolce Vita

Verdi, Vivaldi and La Dolce Vita.

The Classic Buskers’ celebration of Italian music features the delights of Albinoni, Vivaldi, Rossini, Donizetti, Verdi and Mascagni and many others whose names inevitably end in I, all played on a vast assortment of unlikely instruments at improbable speeds. The programme includes Baroque concertos, a Rossini overture or two, the quartet from Verdi’s Rigoletto, cheery folk music from Naples and Sicily and concludes with an arrangement of a Russian composer’s affectionate tribute to the land of both spaghetti and Berlusconi: the Italian Caprice by Tchaikovsky.
